Mississippi: from cotton to corn

I'm really not too surprised, having just read Omnivore's Dilemma. Here the NYTimes reports on the crop shift in Mississippi as the profitability of crops shifts from cotton to corn and soybeans in the south. Farmers say its hard to grow cotton here when the tshirts are being made in China, oh globalization...how do we make you work? One of my favorites, Joseph Stiglitz attempts to answer this in Making Globalization Work. I highly recommend both Omnivore's Dilemma and Making Globalization Work.
