"Love is the ultimate outlaw. It just won't adhere to any rules. The most any of us can do is to sign on as its accomplice. Instead of vowing to honor and obey, maybe we should swear to aid and abet. That would mean that security is out of the question. The words "make" and "stay" become inappropriate. My love for you has no strings attached. I love you for free."

Open water swimming

This summer I participated in two of the coolest things I've done in NYC:

Swimming across the East River in the Brooklyn Bridge Swim

and swimming around Governors Island

And my mug made it in both the videos, so there's proof it actually happened :)

(I'll be doing both next summer!)

I'd rather be here

Who has not killed an hour
Current mood: contemplative

"Who has never killed an hour? Not casually or without thought, but carefully: a premeditated murder of minutes. The violence comes from a combination of giving up, not caring, and a resignation that getting past it is all you can hope to accomplish. So you kill the hour. You do not work, you do not read, you do not daydream. If you sleep it is not because you need to sleep. And when at last it is over, there is no evidence: no weapon, no blood, and no body. The only clue might be the shadows beneath your eyes or this line neat at the corner of your mouth an indication that something has been terribly suffered, that in the privacy of your life you have lost something and the loss is too empty to share." ~Mark Z.
